Landscape has shaped the proposals
Landscape has influenced the design from the very beginning.
Existing mature trees and planting make an important contribution to the character of the site and surrounding area. Wherever possible these features have been retained and incorporated into the proposals.
The attractive stone boundary walls along St Stephen's Road are also retained, preserving an established feature of the street scene.
New planting will complement the retained landscape, maintaining a green setting for both residents and neighbours while helping to support biodiversity and reduce surface water runoff.
Earlier design options were refined to reduce hard surfacing and retain more planting within the front of the site, creating a softer and more attractive appearance from the street.
